The men who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed.

—Lloyd Jones

historical-nonfiction:

One of the first chest-revealing suits for men appeared in 1932 and was called the “Topper.” The suit had a detachable top that could be zipped away from the trunk bottoms. (It looked like the picture above, but with a weird zipper around the waist.) Unfortunately, men who chose to appear topless at the time were often arrested for indecent exposure. Women whose legs were exposed were often arrested, too, so it wasn’t sexism.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Can you say Capitol greed? This is exactly what Suzanne Collins is criticizing in her books. It would be understandable if they were donating a portion of the profits to help, oh I don’t know… hungry people around the world? People who have no access to water?
I absolutely love the books because of the powerful messages that it conveys. I’m glad that a movie is going to come out so that more people can discover THG series. However, if we buy this water (and the nail polish that they’re apparently making, too!), we’re just sending the message that yes, it’s OK to promote violence as entertainment without a care for the people in this world who are suffering!
I understand that they need to make a profit out of this movie, but they’re going way out of line here in a manner that completely defeats the purpose of the books.
